If you really want to experience Nantes, find below my best advices for each month J

 

 

First at all, they are many greats things to visit but also to see and do in Nantes. In this page, we will only talk about short events happening in Nantes each year. But don’t hesitate to look in internet to see which famous sport competitions are going to be held in Nantes this year, or which famous singers are coming to perform in Nantes. Don’t forget to come and support Nantes football team  :)

 

One huge tip: each first Sunday of each month, lot of Nantes museums are free (visit our page about Nantes museums – we will do it soon).

 

 

September:

1. Need something for you flat a low price: go to Students Shop 44 or enjoy each Sunday some carboots – two websites brocabrac.fr or pointsdechine.com

2. Fête forraine de Nantes : see you at “Cour St Pierre” near the Cathedral to enjoy some fun or scary attractions. October:

1. Les utopiales: sciences-fiction festival.

 

 

November:

 

 

December:

1. Nantes Christmas market: Go in town to find the perfect Christmas gift for someone special to you. Go in the evening to feel the magic of this Christmas market.

2. You can also enjoy Nantes by night and see all Nantes Christmas lights decorations.

3. Each year, go to place Saint Pierre to enjoy some ice skating ring, sledge spot and others surprises.

4. Look to see if this year Nantes will do some projections on the Cathedral, it is a must see!

 

3 tips for December:

Enjoy a hot cinnamon wine and do a tour in the horses carousel at the Christmas market.

If you want to buy some chocolates for you, don’t do it this month, go on the 2nd on January to Lecler/Carrefour/Auchan/Super U and enjoy all the Christmas chocolates à -50%.  

Same after the 26th of December or sometimes after the 2nd of January, find some promotions on toys in big supermarkets.

 

 

January:

1. Sales: Each January, Starting the first Wednesday and for one month, it is sales month in most of the shops.

2. If you will like to assist at some lovely concerts look at “www.follejournee.fr”

 

February:

 

 

Mars:

1. Braderie day: If you are a shopping addict, this is your day J Go in town (often it is the last Saturday of March), enjoy some reduction on most Shops and find some lovely clothes or shoes at a reasonable price.

 

 

Avril:

2. It is Carnaval days: It a famous event in Nantes. It is a must see J You can assist to see lovely Carnaval during daytime or night time (I recommend the second option). If you want to see how they are making the Carnaval floats, look in internet to see when it is the free opening day of the big shed (often in February).

3. We also recommend you to look in internet to see a flowers carnival around Nantes.

4. If you like to run, participate at the big marathon of Nantes.

 

May:

1. This month, we recommend to you to go Guerande to assist at “fête medieval de Guérande”. It is often during the last weekend of May but in 2018, it will be held the first weekend of June. Take a weekend to enjoy this festival but also to visit this lovely city and do you want to know how we do we produce salt in this city? Find it by visiting “les marais salant”.

2. Visit the “Floralie” in 2019, it is a flowers event held every two years in Nantes.

3. La nuit of musée, visit one or two museums for free during this evening, be careful you might have to do a long queue but it is worth it J  - 20th of May in 2018.

 

June:

1. It is Gay pride day, 9th of June in 2018 starting at 2pm.

2. 21th of June “fête de la musique”, is the date to remember if you love music. Find at different places of Nantes some free concerts.

3. 30th of June 2018, La nuit du VAN – night with lot of free activities and concerts = opening of le voyage à Nantes summer event.

 

July:

2. Aux heures d’été, a must see summer event J Free concerts, free outdoor cinema, free activities, etc. http://www.auxheuresete.com/

3. Firework on 14th of July, 11pm, Nantes Castle Ducs de Bretagne.

August:

3. “Les rendez-vous de l’Erdre” each end of August. Free Jazz concerts all over Nantes.
